Intelli-Spray Firebird Heavy-Duty Fire Suppression Unit — Slip-On or Trailer-Mounted

Firebird —
The Heavy-Duty Choice. Configure Your Way.

Slip onto the back of a ute or go into a trailer — four tank sizes, two pump options.

The Firebird is the heavy-duty tier of the Intelli-Spray fire suppression range — built for professional firefighters, large rural properties, forestry operations, and emergency response teams who need more water, more pump power, and more flexibility than compact units can provide.

Available in four UV-stabilised tank sizes from 400L to 1000L (106–264 gal), with a choice of single impeller (Honda GP160) or twin impeller (Honda GX200) pump, and the option to deploy as a truck tray slip-on or trailer-mounted system — the Firebird configures to your vehicle, property, and risk level. A full stainless steel manual rewind hose reel and 50 m (164 ft) of Ultral® Light firefighting hose are included as standard.

  • Four tank sizes — 400L / 600L / 800L / 1000L
  • Single or twin impeller pump — choose your flow rate
  • Slip-on or trailer-mounted — deploy how suits your operation
  • 50 m / 164 ft Ultral® Light hose on stainless steel reel — standard
  • Galvanised steel frame with aluminium mounting plate

Heavy-Duty Engineering Throughout

Every component of the Firebird is selected to perform reliably under sustained fireground conditions — from the stainless steel reel to the galvanised frame and professional-grade Ultral® Light hose.

Honda GP160 or GX200 Engine

Choose the Honda GP160 for the single impeller configuration or the Honda GX200 for the twin impeller — both reliable OHV gasoline engines proven in demanding firefighting environments worldwide.

Single or Twin Impeller Pump

The single impeller pump suits operators prioritising volume for broad suppression. The twin impeller pump delivers greater flow rate and sustained pressure — suited to larger properties, longer hose runs, and more demanding fire operations.

50 m / 164 ft Ultral® Light Hose

50 m × 1" (164 ft × 1.0 in) of Ultral® Light professional firefighting hose on a full manual rewind stainless steel hose reel — a heavier-duty hose specification than the Firefly and Firehopper, with a specialised nozzle for precise water flow control.

Galvanised Frame with Aluminium Mounting Plate

Heavy-duty galvanised steel framework for maximum corrosion resistance and long service life — with an aluminium mounting plate for ease of transport and installation in both slip-on and trailer configurations.

Four Tank Sizes — Up to 1000L

UV-stabilised poly tanks in 400L (106 gal), 600L (158 gal), 800L (211 gal), and 1000L (264 gal) — the widest tank choice in the Intelli-Spray fire range. Choose based on property size, vehicle payload, and available water refill logistics.

Solid Eco Foam Dispenser

Solid Eco Foam® dispenser included — anodised aluminium construction, 4L (1.06 gal) per donut, with a box of 5 donuts. Standard detergent donuts also compatible for a cost-effective foam alternative.

Frequently Asked Questions

Firebird FAQs

What is the difference between single and twin impeller pump?+-
The single impeller pump (Honda GP160) delivers high-volume water flow at lower pressure — suited to broad suppression of fire fronts where volume matters more than range. The twin impeller pump (Honda GX200) delivers a greater flow rate with sustained pressure performance — better suited to larger properties, longer hose runs, elevated delivery positions, and operations where pressure drop over distance is a concern. Contact your nearest distributor for specific flow and pressure figures for each configuration.
Which tank size should I choose?+-
Tank size selection depends on three factors: your vehicle's payload rating, the distance and frequency of water refills on your property, and the size and risk profile of the area you're protecting. The 400L (106 gal) suits smaller properties with ready refill access. The 600L–800L options balance run time and vehicle payload. The 1000L (264 gal) provides maximum first-attack water for large properties and high-risk environments — but requires a heavy-duty truck (F-350/RAM 3500 class minimum) to carry safely when full. Our team can advise based on your vehicle and property.
What is the difference between slip-on and trailer-mounted deployment?+-
The slip-on configuration sits in the tray of a pickup truck — providing immediate fire response with your vehicle in the field. The trailer-mounted option carries the Firebird on a purpose-built trailer, leaving your vehicle tray free for other equipment and allowing the unit to be stationed at a specific location on the property and hitched when needed. Both options use the same fire unit — the choice depends on your preferred deployment style and vehicle type.
What size truck is needed for the Firebird slip-on?+-
The Firebird slip-on is 1820 mm (71.7 in) deep, 1300 mm (51.2 in) wide, and 193 kg (425 lb) dry. Loaded with water, total weight depends on tank size — from approximately 593 kg (1,308 lb) with the 400L tank to approximately 1193 kg (2,630 lb) with the 1000L tank. A heavy-duty pickup (F-250/RAM 2500 or above for 400–600L; F-350/RAM 3500 for 800–1000L) is recommended. Always confirm your vehicle's payload rating before loading.
How does the Firebird compare to the Quik Attack series?+-
The Firebird and Quik Attack units are both truck-mounted slip-on fire systems from Intelli-Spray. The Firebird's key differentiators are its four tank size options (up to 1000L) and choice of single or twin impeller pump — offering more configuration flexibility. The Quik Attack QA1600/1800/2000 series use Bertolini and Davey pumps on a specifically sized aluminum frame with forklift pockets, and the QA1800 and QA2000 add foam dispensers and accessories as standard. Contact your nearest distributor to discuss which unit best matches your application and budget.
